The Big Girl Bed
We have a gracious, experienced auntie. She is the mommy of 4 of our cousins. The youngest of these is just a few months old and growing like a weed. Soon she will be out of her basinette.
Which means soon auntie will need the wooden crib that munchkin is currently sleeping in back.
So we have been talking about the “big girl bed” for weeks now. There was some debate over just moving her to a twin bed (Grandma and Mommy felt this was a good course of action). After all, my childhood twin bed is sitting up in the rafters of the garage, just waiting. Waiting. Waiting like a flat, wooden high diving board to launch my precious little girl several thousand feet down into the broken glass and razorblades strewn across the floor of her bedroom.

First Best Friend
The bath is over. The jammies are on. The eyes are droopy. The warm bottle is clutched tight. We’ve kissed Daddy and Mommy goodnight and, slumped against Mommy’s shoulder, we’re on our way to bed. Suddenly panicked eyes open wide, a reaching arm spears the air with clutching fingers and the mouth opens to admit two plaintive, desperate syllables:
“FRAHH-GEEE!!!”
