First 24 Hours in the life of Tadhg

Wifey, little Tadhg and the rest of us are doing very well. Emotions are running deep and powerfully and I find myself somewhat overwhelmed and at a loss for words at the moment, so this will be a brief update post with a gallery of photos. Just one small item I’ll address: pronunciation for our non-Irish friends who may not have come across the name Tadhg before. Pronounce it by saying “Tiger” without the “er.”

Lego Campanile

lego CampanileIt would seem our trip to Berkeley had an impact on the munchkin. The next day I was running errands and when I got home wifey asked, “Do you know what ‘the queen’s house’ is?”
Mystified, I asked what this was about. “Well, we were playing with legos,” wifey began, “and she made this (pictured there on the left), said it was the queens house and then she made these stairs - ” wifey gestured at the bright pink blocks stacked alongside the main structure, “I thought making stairs that way was really clever, don’t you? The white butter/margarine thing is weird to me, too . . . but then, at this stage I’m used to regular YELLOW butter from Ireland. I checked recently and one’s choice in the local supermarket seems to be margarine with copious amounts of yellow#5 or mysteriously bleached butter . . . why is it white? That’s just weird. What are they doing to the butter?

3rd Birthday party

Yes, the munchkin turned 3 today. Well, okay, it was yesterday, but she’s 3 - her party was today . . . let’s not confuse the issue. *grin*

I am sitting semi-conscious on the couch. The wrapping paper/packaging is all stuffed in a large bag in the corner of the living room. The toys are put away (so is the munchkin, exhausted and passed out in bed). We opted for a subdued, family-oriented birthday party and, mostly, it was. Grandparents, cousins and just two close friends in attendance. Still, I’m WRECKED.
